Humanity, as we know is coming to an end. Like the popular quote that we keep hearing, “The end is nearing”. It is actually false. The end has already come. Perhaps, we are not seeing it. Perhaps, we know it and we are choosing to overlook it. But truth be told, we have failed at humanity. What we do is not making the intended difference that it is supposed to make.
You might ask why do I think that we, as humanity have failed us? You know the answer as well, but like I have mentioned, you are choosing to overlook it. Let me take the latest incident that happened in the country that boosts itself of empowering and making breakthroughs. We might be the best and the brightest, we are also those ignorant assholes. If you are wondering what incident I am trying to highlight here, turn on the TV, it is on every news channel. I am not going to preach anything that we don’t already know. But you know, for a person who is unaffected by emotions, it just breaks my heart a million times over.
I have written at length about how unhappy I was about the people who drag themselves to the level of monsters and show their colors on the innocent. I have written because I felt that the words are a medium of change, as I have always believed it to be. Words have the power to change the world, also destroy it as well. But then again, we are responsible for what we say and if we are doing it right, the right will happen. And I waited in hope. It was good to see that there were people who were voicing out the same in their way, the grave concern and hoping that the change will happen soon. But then again, there is the news at every turn of the page, a new incident that will break the heart all over again, a million times over. Because she was just a kid who could barely speak. Because she was a just a kid who had the whole future in front of her with those big dreams of her. But that one, not one but a few too many to even count, had to break all those dreams. While this is being a problem where people don’t fear the laws in place, nor the outrage of the people or anything as a matte of fact and hence doing whatever pleases them, the greater problem might be us as well. We are preaching how we should raise our boys and educating them and all that jazz, from our comfortable seats sitting in an air conditioned room and probably screaming at the TV with similar news coming every other day. It has sort of become a routine for us, being outraged and taking the anger on the social media and if that didn’t curb our anger, candle light marches. We are preaching something good, we all know that, and it might not matter from where we are doing it, be it the comfort of our bed, and having the best of intentions, we are still failing ourselves in more ways than not. I am not sure what we can do to stop everything. DO. Yes, we need to DO something, instead of Twitter threads and online blogs. We need to DO something that brings about the positive change and hopefully will see much better news on TV rather than the same old news that will outrage us all over again.
I know that each and everyone of us want to help! And I want to do something too. But in a country like mine, with a population of a billion people, with a government that is too busy with things that are not entirely important, we as a united front can bring about the change that we so wish to bring, but why aren’t we able to do anything? Why do we feel that the hands are tied? And our voices from our rooms of our comfortable houses are not being heard? Oh, they are being heard alright, but beyond that there is nothing happening.
I hope for the sake of our own future things change for the better. Or better, we change the things for the better.

It breaks my heart,everytime I read it or think about it.Really,we are the Modern India,we are the citizens of a degrading country.,where girls are worshipped as goddesses,and the same girl is raped,a 8 year old innocent child,How they could?.I couldn’t stop myself from sobbing while writing this,we are still standing on 16th december,when delhi saw how Some wild beasts,and So many campaigns and empowerments,where they all go?.What country we are living in?That made me feel so helpless.

We should be progressing, and all we are doing is downgrading ourselves. What have we come to? Where are the humans in humanity? And I mean how could they? Are they so brainless that ..argh I can’t even complete the sentence.
It’s high time we stopped feeling helpless and did something. Some change, even a tiniest one will help, I feel. But then again, we indeed are helpless.
we both can sigh,for we are indeed helpless,but not always,one day,we will fight back when the time comes.
Hopefully that day comes soon. 🙂

This just breaks my heart. I have been trying to avoid reading and watching the news as it hurts so much and makes me soo angry. And whatever small bit you do to raise your voice against such horrible incidents feels like it all goes in vain as the Govt is deaf.
I recently saw a video, the villagers men, women, old, young, middle aged or even school children has the opinion that it is definitely the girl’s mistake when a guy or a gang rapes her. How disgusting, it boils my blood when I read or watch such videos when they have the audacity to say it is the girl’s mistake to even talk to a guy. It is the girl’s mistake to step out of the house no matter what time of the day it is, It is a girl’s mistake if she smiles, It is a girl’s mistake if the guy has such intentions on her and she is responsible for getting raped coz.
What crap??? Why the hell can’t you educate the boys she is not a bloody toy for you to play around. Why the hell they do not educate the guy she too is a human being, why hell they can not teach the guy he is wrong to think something evil as such, Why the hell they can not teach the guy his thoughts about the girl is wrong…
Govt is doing nothing to educate people and to make them realize their mistakes. They take years to give the judgment on such cases which only helps the criminals to move around and commit more crimes. Such crime is unforgivable but still Govt announce a years of imprisonment so that they can come out and commit these crimes again….

See, we are all trying to avoid looking at the news, But that’s not how we should be dealing with problems.
I completely understand what you mean to say and also agree with all of them.
Govt. is not going to do anything. It didn’t do anything then, it won’t do anything now. Believing in the govt. to do something is just like a blind faith.
But then there is this question of what can we do? I am not exactly sure what we can do, but there has to be something that we SHOULD do, because this JUST CANT KEEP HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
Yes, I totally agree with you… But what exactly we do so that at least to some extent we make difference? We are limited to stuff like signing the petition, changing our What’sapp DP to purple colour or black colour for Tomorrow i.e on 18th April… But how effective it is? I don’t think this is making any difference… Or this is actually not solving the problem… I will respect and support and do such things… But the fact remains, things are still the same… Such kind of horrible incidents are still taking place and the innocent girl is being blamed for it…
That’s what I have written in the post, haven’t I? We are preaching from the comfort of our home and hoping things to change.
We need to do something that the people doing these should be so scared of the consequences that they will not even think of doing it.
