It has been said that the universe maintains its balance. Like that most popularly known statement “What goes around comes around”. Well, I just realized that those two are completely different statements. But, the following post highlights them both in a way. So, I was speaking about the balance. This is a question for you: Do you believe in the balance that nature tries to restore? Given that one has to make an effort for the same. But then again, there is a force, an entity that conspires to do the right thing, well in order to maintain the balance. Right? Well, let me take you through a story :
It was the advent of summer and the heat was getting high and there I was on my bicycle. I invested quite a lot and took my bike for two reasons. One, basically not to bother the other guy who was going out of his way to get me home after the late night badminton matches that we’re playing. And the second being that it will serve as the much needed exercise to compensate the junk food that I keep gobbling down my throat. It was a good investement, per say. And you might be wondering what is the worst that could happen?
The first mishap happened shortly in a few months. It was one lazy sunday afternoon, I had sort of told that I could come all the way and travel close to 15 km to play badminton. But that very same day the lock of the cycle broke. The lock broke! The lock. It just broke off like snapped off. Nothing big about it. But it sort of prohibited me from traveling all that way since there was a possibility of getting my bike stolen if the lock wasn’t present. But I got one shortly later that evening.
A few months later, I was going back to my home. It had rained a while ago and though the rain had stopped, the streets were pretty much damp. I was going about my own business and following the lane discipline that I am supposed to. Since I had been through the same road a couple too many times, I knew where was what. Keeping that in mind, that particular lane was newly laid down with road and it was a delight to the riders. I had picked up the pace and then BHAM! The expert driver behind the wheel in his red semi-SUV on the far end of the road decided to take left and didn’t put an indicator when he was taking that untold dive. That resulted in a crash and a completely bent rim which was no longer functional. My house was still a few miles away. I didn’t have any problem walking all the way or with those small bruises on the hand, or that my headphone was in bad shape or that my laptop might have got broken from the fall. It was pretty nasty fall. But that bike which I had just got a few months back needs to undergo a major transforming. I didn’t put up a fight for what had just happened, but just let it be and went about my business. And why even bother exchanging words with them, when they will defend themselves. Apparently, it was never our fault. I even asked whether their car was alright and told them that it might probably be my own fault. Well, I have a pretty good reputation for good luck. This is just one part of it. It was completely different struggle to get that tire fixed.
After all that had happened, I thought the worst that could happen had already happened and there was nothing that could possibly go wrong. I was so very very wrong. The other night, I was coming back from the almost everyday coffee haul when I was stopped by two guys. They were probably drunk, but what I thought was that they might be asking for directions. And since I was the generous one, I decided to help them out. It was in that moment that the guy who stopped me pulled out a gun from behind and started waving around. I brushed him off a drunk and didn’t pay much head. Oh yeah, I didn’t care about the knife. I know, I wasn’t thinking properly, and he was clearly drunk. Apparently, now that I think of it, I don’t like people who try to rip people off. I believe that the universe will do its magic and get them what they deserve. So there I was at the chime of twelve and brushing off a drunk guy holding a knife demanding money. I don’t know whether he has done it earlier or not, but he looked like an amateur. So, I showed him to buzz off and get out of my way since he was blocking the way. Since he didn’t budge, I decided to go around him. And as I was taking the curve around him, he decided to use his knife. That knife was one of those which is used to cut coconuts. That didn’t scare me. Like I said I wasn’t thinking. And that swing that he made with his knife slashed my back tire. I was literally pissed off. This is way too much. But then again, some realization set in. I had somethings which were way too costly and I didn’t want to lose them as well. But I parked my cycle and started arguing with that idiot. He was still waving that knife of his and DEMANDING money. That was way too much and he had done more damage. I held his knife and pushed it back. Yes, I did that. And then shouted at him for asking for money after having done the most damage to my bike. I let it go as well. Because luck has a way of getting to me. And which one you can easily make out. I struggled to get that fixed as well.
Well, what is more worse than that? Phew! So the universe has to balance the odds and provide me something pretty great because it was all a mental torture and emotional. And since the universe wasn’t doing much about it. I decided to something for myself. I got some new things for my bike just to make the driving more comfortable and easier. I installed them on my back right after I had got them. And then one night, I return from office to find my bike missing. As in lost. I mean what the hell? The universe, what is going on? Where is the balance that is supposed to happen and what is this new thing that hit me right in the face like a truck, scratch that, it was probably a train, no definitely! I kind of let that go as well. Because when you are being hit by that train way too many times, you sort of kind of get used to it. Don’t you. But once in a while, there arises the much needed question so as to why on earth?
So, the universe that is supposed to keep track of the good and bad, where is it? I think if you keep asking the universe for the right thing to happen, it just does the exact opposite.
P.S. If you are wondering why I wrote this story in the theme (We all have a story we don’t tell), because I don’t usually tell all this (mishaps) stuff that happens to people. And if in case, I have told you then, you must be a pretty special person.

#WeAllHaveAStoryWeDontTell
#ZtoAChallenge is a world-recognized challenge (it will be soon), wherein people (i.e. me and I alone) write posts on a specific theme (or just random stuff) to challenge oneself to writer better and hopefully learn along the way. This year’s theme is We all have a story we don’t tell. Hopefully, I will try to bring out the story as truthfully as I can. What I mean to say is I will try my best to write as much as I can and hopefully bring out what I really wanted to convey, those in between the lines stories.

Oh gee.. I know some details about this but not everything.. I didn’t know that you were almost hit by an SUV. 🙁
I had to hold my head while reading this because the wrinkles keep coming out.. sigh..
Within those periods from one point to another, nothing good ever happen? I’m lost for words.
Actually, I hit the car, since I was going straight and the car took a hard left.
Wrinkles, why I ask?
Umm, nope. Actually the opposite, more bad things happened. So, umm… there’s that. :/
Hmmm.. wrinkles because I couldn’t stop thinking all of those you’ve been through.. and wish that it didn’t happen.. but unfortunately it did happen.. so 🙁 I’m sad..
Umm, don’t be sad. Things happen. Sometimes, they would be bad. But we just have to look past it sometimes, right?
I guess you are right.
THat was a close shave and looks like that bike is really not the most lucky thing to have around you
It was.
Apparently so. And finally it got itself stolen as well.
